Guide to the Cowboy Nation and Unit Specifications
As a Cowboy player your duty is to be the defensive bunker builder extrordinaire of your alliance!
The Cowboy Nation is more geared to defense however the Sniper is the second strongest attack (144 when fully researched) infantry in the game (the Indian Tomahawk Fighter takes first place at 145 when fully researched). The Cowboys get a special ability with the Farmers which can be assigned to gather additional resources. Up to 200 can be used to gather an additional 50 units per hour of wood, clay, iron and food.
A very defence oriented Cowboy player will have Farmers and Swashbucklers as their main troops whereas aggressive players will use Farmers and Snipers.
Now you might be reading this and thinking: "Wait a minute Hachiroku! Snipers have a 144 max (when fully researched) attack but Swashbucklers have a max of 192 (when fully researched). How can an aggressive player rely on Snipers?!?!". You would be right in asking that question and the answer lies in food consumption. Snipers consume 1 food per hour whereas Swashbucklers consume 3 per hour. So you can have 3 Snipers for every 1 Swashbuckler. Which might not seem that big a deal early on but in the later stages where you are fielding armies with 20 groups supported by loose troops...the fact that you've got an extra 2500 Snipers in your clearing wave will come in very handy indeed. Dudes...it's just math.
Suggested Town Configurations
The numbers below are based on maxed out food production buildings. With the exception of the Indian Nation it is always recommended to maintain a ratio of 3 to 1 defensive to offensive villages.
5 Town Configuration
1 Town of Defensive Infantry (3875 Farmers)
3 Towns of Defensive Cavalry (1287 Swash per town = 3861)
1 Town of Offensive Infantry (3875 Snipers)
10 Town Configuration
2 Towns of Defensive Infantry (3875 Farmers per town = 7750)
1 Town of Defensive Cavalry (1930 Cowboys)
4 Towns of Defensive Cavalry (1287 Swash per town = 5148)
3 Towns of Offensive Infantry (3875 Snipers per town = 11,625)

Always remember that you need to upgrade your unit's defensive or offensive power in the academy. For example Snipers start out with an attack of 80 but can be upgraded to an attack of 144! Once you start mutiplying the attack power by the number of units (example a maxed out town with 3875 Snipers) and you'lll see the difference. 3875 Snipers x 80 attack power = 310,000 vs at 144 attack power = 558,000. DON'T NEGLECT the RESEARCH!
